Technology Can Help You Be More Comfortable and Get The Best Result Possible

We certainly live in a technologically driven age. All we have to do is just look around and we can see technology of all kinds driving our daily lives.

The most common piece of technology we use is our phones. Most companies refer to them as “smartphones.” Nothing could be more true. We now hold the same computing power in the palm of our hand that used to be contained in a 3 story or more building.

Advancements in technology has changed they way we do just about everything and that statement is even more true when it comes to dentistry.

Just in the past 30 years, we have seen new ways developed to treat various dental issues with more precision than ever with unparalleled comfort.

Most people used to be afraid of the dentist and thought of going sent some into panic attacks and filled them with anxiety.

Those things, however, are really a thing of the past.

New Levels of Dental Comfort

In years gone by, dentist pretty much had to rely on the numbing medicines to treat their patients. Many people have the fear of needles and if they ever heard they might have to have a root canal, they would fall into panic.

Here is the good news. It just simply is not like that anymore.

We now have numbing medicines that we can apply to your gums before the use of the needle for further numbing. This helps you not even feel the numbing shot.

From there, you can have anyone of 3 other types or levels of sedation to make your totally comfortable.

The first type has been around for a while. It’s called Nitrous Oxide or laughing gas. Most people have heard of this and you may have already used this to help you relax if you have been to the dentist before.

It’s simply a gas that you breathe in that will help you calm down before any type of treatment is done.

The second type of sedation is called “conscious sedation.” With this type of sedation, we go through a special protocol with you which involves giving you a tiny pill before your treatment.

It’s called conscious sedation because you will be able to respond fully to the doctor but you will most likely not be able to remember anything about the treatment. Most of our patients love this form of sedation and simply cannot believe how helpful it is for getting their treatment done.

The third type of sedation is for those with more serious anxiety issues or those who are in need of more extensive treatment such as full mouth restorations. This is called IV Sedation.

Most people are familiar with this type as it is the same thing you would get in a hospital. With this type of sedation, you are completely asleep and totally unaware of the procedure as it is going on.

A consultation with the doctor will help you decide on what is the best type of sedation to help you get the treatment you need.

Advancements In Imaging

Have you ever been to the dentist and had to bite down on little pieces of what felt like card board to have x-rays taken of your teeth? Most of us have at some time or another.

Several years ago digital x-rays came along and we were able to get better images of your teeth, gums and jaws. We were able to get a much better and clearer look and your oral health.

However, in the past few years, a new technology has come along called “cone beam” or as some call it, a 3D CAT Scan of the head. This has brought a completely differently level of imaging to dentistry that allows us to see things previously that would have been missed with x-rays.

This type of 3D imaging gives us an incredible view of your teeth, jaws, gums, nasal passages and airway. We can now spot problems long before they turn into big ones that ultimately will cost you more time and money in the dental chair.

Not all dental offices have this type of imaging.

Here at Dental Care of Corona, we have embraced several of the latest technological advancements in dentistry simply because we want to provide the highest level of care to our patients we can. This includes 3D imaging.

This type of imaging allows us to be more precise in both our diagnose and treatment of dental issues.

This is most important when it comes to the placement of dental implants. With 3D imaging, we are able to get the best placement of implants possible which will restore your bite and your smile more effectively.
